Probation revoked for former Hayden mayor, accused of credit card fraud

HAYDEN — Pinal County officials have revoked the probation of a former mayor of Hayden after authorities arrested him on suspicion of making fraudulent transactions with one of the town’s credit cards.

The Pinal County Adult Probation Department filed a petition last week against Charles A. Vega, 43, alleging he had violated the terms of his 18-month probation. He pleaded guilty last year in Pinal County to possessing drug paraphernalia.

The petition references numerous criminal charges he’s facing after the Hayden Police Department recently identified him as the culprit responsible for making up to $2,500 worth of unauthorized charges on a public credit card.

According to the Police Department, a credit card assigned to the town’s Fire Department had gone missing and numerous unauthorized transactions were being made over the course of several months.
