local AZ beef

Due to popular demand Cattle Growers' has compiled a list of ranchers who sell directly to the consumer. The beef these ranchers are selling is raised on their family ranches, and processed at small processing plants that are certified and inspected for retail sales.

Every year we would get half a steer from my uncle's farm, processed by a local shop. I remember all the pieces wrapped in white paper & labelled with the cut. Dad & I would take the pickup truck & a bunch of blankets & come home with a truck bed full of frozen beef that we'd pack in the chest freezers in the basement.

Hopefully, this will lead to more people dealing with local producers & businesses.

the place we get meat done (or just get meat) puts it in plastic now. I hate it and I make them wrap ours in paper, even if I have to pay more.

I don't know, people want food dirt cheap, and I don't blame them - I buy the shit in stores too when the sales are good. Even knowing full well the real costs.
