Craigslist user seeks personal assistant to help find rental apartment in San Francisco

Not The Onion!

At least, SFist tracked down a job solicitation on Craiglist from a guy wanting to pay a person $17 an hour to help him respond to apartment ads, fill out roommate applications and write those countless emails — "I'm a quiet, pet-less, high-paid, non-smoker who would do anything to live in your window-less, kitchen-less basement..."

The posting, which the author deleted yesterday (maybe because he hired someone?) reads:

Hi, I'm looking for someone to help me peruse craigslist and other apartment rental sites and submit roommate application emails on my behalf. I'm a mid 30's male and I'll provide you all the search criteria that you need.

Preferably you'll have a pretty good grasp of the English language; you don't need to be a Stanford scholar but please know the difference between "then and than," "you're and your," etc.

Jebus! That's almost as much as I'm making now!

I have given up looking for a new place, but hey my neighbors moved out. I hate that landlords are requiring you to have 3x the amount of income more than your rent. Another words if an Apartment was $1000, you would need $3000 to cover it. Plus on top of that a security deposit, 50 to 100 dollars to cover pets, if you have them, and other silly hidden fees. I may never leave my hole in the wall, but at least I am in the City, and have access to it. I wouldn't want to be in some community 160 miles away from the City on a BART line.

Where? Where? Where?!

And BART doesn't go 160 miles out from The City, silly. That'd take it well past Sac and down to Monterey.

I was exaggerating, and 1000 is easier to multiply by 3 than some odd number. Rents that low probably can not be found in the city, even in the Tenderloin!
