Where's the rain?

I track precipitation for grape growers in Napa Valley. Total rainfall from July 1st, 2011 through January 10th, 2012: about 9 1/2 inches. Last year at this time -- starting July 1st, 2010 -- we had received 19.95 inches.

Nothing in sight either.

The long-lead forecasts are all showing average or below normal precipitation for the rest of the winter and spring.
