California's superbloom has totally outdone Texas' bluebonnets

The superbloom has migrated north to California's Central Valley, and the show is simply indescribable at the Carrizo Plain National Monument. The Valley floor has endless expanses of yellows and purples from coreopsis, tidy tips and phacelia, with smaller patches of dozens of other species. Not to be outdone, the Temblor Range is painted with swaths of wildlflowers in oranges yellow and purple like something out of a storybook. Visitors are flocking to the area to see this explosion of color, and travelers should be prepared with a full tank of gas as there are no services in the monument. Every year Texas anticipates the huge bluebonnet bloom that happens in the spring.

Photographers are ready for trips out to the fields for senior portraits, baby pictures or even a session for pets, and while they make great portraits, literally nothing can compare to the photos coming out of California right now.

The torrential rains that hit the state seemed to have paid off because the mountainsides and valleys are covered in a blanket of technicolor wildflowers.

The U.S. Department of the Interior posted photos to Facebook showing just a small part of the bloom.

Rolling hills of Bluebonnets, red Indian Paintbrush, and many other wildflowers bestowed to us by Ladybird Johnson are a sight to behold!

I would ask some locals where they would have some nearby. Out of Austin they are all around.
