Gavin Newsom campaigns in Riverside, warns to prepare for the future
Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom did not cheer the growth of logistics jobs in the Inland Empire on Friday, June 30. Instead, he warned, automation is coming to take those jobs, and many others in the state.
Something big is happening in the world. Were going from something old to something new, he warned. And we have to lean into it.

Newsom was in Riverside at the second of three planned events featuring likely candidates for governor. The first of the three speakers in the Inland Empire Economic Partnerships Speaker Series was former Assembly Speaker and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who visited Rancho Cucamonga in April. California Treasurer John Chiang, who had been scheduled to speak there in early June, pushed back his appearance to a planned July 13 date in Rancho Cucamonga.
