4.5 earthquake just now in the San Francisco Bay Area

According to the USGS, it was centered just south of Pleasant Hill, in East Bay.

Here in San Francisco, I felt a sharp jolt, followed by pretty noticeable shaking. It was enough to get my heart pounding. As usual, I rushed to the USGS "Did You Feel It" website, to be a Citizen Earthquake Reporter. It's pretty active, with pre-and after-shocks.

2. Felt it here in Tracy too

two quick shakes.

Looking at the USGS map... some retirees in Walnut Creek Manor senior living facility probably had quite a jolt... right off of I-680 in Pleasant Hill

3. My parents (mom/stepdad) live in Walnut Creek ... pretty near the border with PH.

Hope nothing precious fell off any shelves and broke ...

Lived there for awhile myself, graduated HS living in WC ... pretty much mah hometown ...

6. My son, and his wife & toddler daughter live there, in walking distance of downtown.

I'd been a little disdainful of Walnut Creek, 'till my son & family moved there. Now that I've been spending time there, I've developed a genuine liking for the place. Their 2 year old daughter is quite at home downtown, and I can just project her into the future with her own gaggle of girlfriends, out and about.

They're a mile from the epicenter, and felt it quite strongly.

4. Three of us were in our SF kitchen, but only one felt it, so we weren't sure it was an earthquake

until our younger daughter came running in to ask if we'd felt it.
