I mailed a check to IRS mid-April and it hasn't cleared yet

Previous years, they've been pretty quick to cash it-- should I be concerned?

It says to call IRS if it hasn't cleared in two weeks, but of course there's no person to answer the 800 number.

They were slow to cash my check. Took 3 weeks or so and I was beginning to worry (because it’s due June 1st and can’t get new policy during hurricane season if this one cancels). Might be that cashing checks and scanning them is backed up with many federal employees WFH?

(Probly the WORST two years of my life, but another story....)

One day I moved a large cartload of returns and found a one-million-dollar-plus check. It was nearly five weeks old! I had to have a guard escort me down to the cash-processing unit with it. If they can lose a million-dollar check, they can just as easily lose a fifty-dollar check, or anything else. Honestly, I often thought it was a bloody miracle that ANYTHING ever got out of there correctly!

It could be instructive to many of us.

Besides, I'm curious. (wink)
