Shout Out to the D-produced anti-recall TV ads. They were great.

Featuring Elizabeth Warren and later President Obama, the ads framed the issue as “the Republican recall,” which is effective in a state where 46% of voters self-identify as Ds while only 24% self-identify as Rs. The messaging clearly linked Elder to tRump, encouraged voting by mail and positioned a NO vote as a vote against R’s current practice of trying to overturn perfectly legitimate election results with lies and anti-democratic laws.

I knew the recall would fail from Day One, bigly. Watching the media desperately trying to whip up a horse race was amusing.

around. The rest of the country was similarly at risk had Larry Elder and all the Trumpists prevailed.

I volunteered to do phone call duty for CA Democrats. Though it was increasingly hard to get someone to answer, I did have some very welcome conversations with those who clearly knew the stakes.

The most-blatant attempt at media spin was citing a poll of 232 men and 255 women that averred that men in CA were largely against Newsom, while women were for him. As if the opinions of 487 people accurately represent the opinions of CA’s 22-million registered voters, 47% of whom are Ds.
