Conservatives Say California Is A Disaster But Facts Show The Opposite

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for decades, you’ve probably noticed that conservatives hate California. It’s an obsession.

Donald Trump’s disdain for the state is well known. But conservative anti-California hatred goes far beyond Trump.

The enduring sources of these fusillades are conservative thought leaders. And as they portray it, California is a failing Banana Republic.

In their jaundiced view, the Golden State is a violent, poverty-stricken homeless dystopia that is overrun by thieves.

Housing, cost of living and crime. They do that and it’s the perfect state.

2. I admit that I'm not the biggest fan of CA, but that has nothing to do with its success...

That's just my prejudices.

CA has been at the forefront commercially, technically, and humanly of what we as a country strive to be on our better days. If "conservatives" sat down and thought about it, California actually makes their own dreams come alive, while still promoting ours.

One person here even spouted the Right-wing talking points about California even though I don't think he realized it.

I think we are doing pretty good here.

Conservatives in Norwalk and Liberals in Fresno. They have all lived there most of their lives. Ask them what they think of CA and you won't be able to tell them apart by their answers. I don't get it.

That is one of the most conservative areas of California. Bakersfield, Fresno and Modoc county. Also, San Diego and Riverside.

One of the old conservative areas, Orange County, has lately started to turn Blue.

5. California 2022 Budget Surplus

Posted: Feb 21, 2022 / KTLA

A California budget surplus that is already expected to be massive could end up being billions of dollars more than initial estimates.

When Gov. Gavin Newsom unveiled his 2022-2023 budget proposal back in January, his administration forecast a $45.7 billion surplus.

But in a February update, the state Legislative Analyst’s Office said there’s a very good chance the surplus could exceed the initial estimate by $6 billion or more.

A little perspective on the $51B SURPLUS...

"Recently, Russian military spending has ranged between the equivalent of $50 and $60 billion per year"

8. Much of it is victim blaming

In many cases the victim being California's people, government officials and the state as a whole.
Examples:
homelessness: Many municipalities across the country "solve" their homeless problems by giving the homeless a one-way bus ticket to, guess where, California. So the state is expected to fix this national problem on its own.
Crime: The state has some of the largest urban centers in the country and they have seen the same underlying issues other such places have when it comes to the transfer of wealth and good-paying jobs away from those without a college degree.
Affordability: The influx of wealthy and upper middle class foreigners to the state has raised prices for everything, especially housing.

These aren't the only reasons for the state's problems and image but while the leaders have made mistakes it is still better run than most out there.

would not live anywhere else. It is beautiful and have yet to meet any unhappy people. Even a small hole in the wall restaurant catering to mostly conservative locals who gladly accepted our business even though we wore our masks and understand climate change is a reality. Nothing is perfect but my little corner of the world makes me happy.

With an economic base to rival nations, I'd previously done some travel gigs in other southwestern states. 2010 did that in for good: it's just not worthwhile to update my professional license in any other state.
Seldom spotted the obscene, often racist bumperstickers that littered the same impoverished areas of the southwestern U.S., the same ilk bashing California were truly frightening on my sojourn thru other states. Would the "equality" sticker on my little car earn me bulletholes from the chawtobaccky dipshits?
There are slums in areas I won't name... slithering with meth-heads certainly rival 16th and Mission in fright factor.
Uncertain whether my present Palm Springs gig will extend into summer but one thing I can always count on: there's always another gig somewhere in the Golden State.
Well, at least until Wednesday evening when I win the Lotto.

I've lived many places in this country, but have never really felt like I belonged anywhere until I came here. I was not born here, but I am a true blue Californian and proud of it. This is home.
