1. My DH and I left Santa Monica for good in 1992 and haven't been back.

But both of us had lived there since the late fifties. It's good to see a woman police chief and an African American to boot! I and most Santa Monicans had taken classes at the college on and off over the years. It makes me sad to see that this happened there.

2. She's great, apparently came up through the ranks

in Inglewood, haven't checked that to be sure. Meaning she saw plenty of gang and drug street warfare.

In another context I learned that she is paid something around 260,000!

Other SM cops get 179 grand, and there's very little crime here!

Who knew.
