When I lived in SF I would go once a week to eat crab on the street and then have some beer at Jack's. I would also make it a point to watch the guy behind the tree that scares people.

And Fisherman's wharf is as close as it gets to an amusement park.. I love to go once in a while and mingle with tourists. Sometimes I wear my SF Giants gear.. and hit up some of the fresh crab places.. or have a big bowl of Clam chowder in a baked sour dough bread. Its lovely!

One of the places on Beach Street used to make a ton of money. Why? Cause they sold Fisherman Wharf and San Francisco Sweat shirts. People would come to San Francisco expecting the weather to be like Miami Florida. Hot and Humid, no need for extra clothing, but to their surprise there is this chill in air off the bay, and its freaking cold! SO where do they run? To the place that sells sweat shirts... of course.

The FAMOUS Earthquake McGoons, with Turk Murphy as the house band and my friend Scott Anthony playing the breaks. Those were the days.

I also remember the famous restaurant Omar Khayams, down below street level. Eat delicious Armenian food while the cable cars rumble on the street outside.

Lots of happy memories there, but I haven't visited for twenty years or so.

There is a wonderful area there for buying great fresh foods, and the more exotic stuff like caviar, fresh sour dough breads, Cheeses from all over Europe and California. Store that sell all kinds of nuts and seeds. The ferries are there of course, that go over to Oakland. A few great Seafood restaurants, which tend to be cheaper than Fisherman's wharf, and within walking distance, aways down is of course, AT&T Park!

for a few years - to find how the somewhat grungy terminal that I remembered from the '80s/'90s had been transformed into a very well-used attraction.

Another place that I really like near there, which I hadn't known about until recently, is Yerba Buena Gardens. In particular the sculpture Urge, which was the surprise highlight of my last walk through the area...

Must've been in 92 or 93.

Wow, it's been over 20 years.

Hell the last time I've been anywhere in SF was to take my granddaughter to the airport in 2004. And that was just driving through from the Bay Bridge to the Bayshore and out to SFO.

But this Irish Boy put in a lot of time there.

My Wife's Uncle was a part owner of Castignola's and I once in a while, got to work the crab steamers in front.

I really liked the Aquatic Museum though. My sister took me there often when I was young. It was always so quiet there. Then she would take me over to the bocce ball courts across the way and we got as much Italino cursing as we wanted.

Shamrocks yesterday.. I can not confirm it, I wasn't there, but I am sure we have a number of Irish in the City By the Bay... Would make sense for them have a special place to celebrate St. patty's day. There used to be some great Irish Pubs in the city..I don't recall any names at the moment.

The last time I took some friends to the wharf they wanted to go to Pier 39. I said why me!

It was cool, in June, damp, but beautiful. We were there only one day as part of a longer tour of the Northwest. The Aquarium, Chinatown, Fisherman'w Wharf, the trolly ride up and down the long hill, the Victorian houses, are all I can remember. Would love to see it again, and stay longer.
