Larimer County: Chick-fil-A was on the 'cusp of a major outbreak' of coronavirus
The outbreak of COVID-19 at Chick-fil-A in Fort Collins was three times worse than initially believed.
On Wednesday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported a threefold increase in the number of Chick-fil-A workers who tested positive for the disease in an outbreak that began May 15.
According to new data, Chick-fil-A has had nine employees test positive for COVID-19 and another five who were listed as probable. The initial report listed four positive cases.
Chick-fil-A shut down for seven days on May 21, and then many of the new cases popped up around May 26, said Katie O'Donnell, spokeswoman for Larimer County Public Health and Environment. That means the employees were not at work and had no contact with Chick-fil-A's customers while they were contagious.
