McMahon Gave $6M To Pro-Trump Super PAC; GOP Challengers Trail Dems In Congressional Races

When some Connecticut Republicans were trying to distance themselves from Donald Trump, two-time U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon took the opposite approach — contributing $6 million to a pro-Trump super PAC, according to new filings with the Federal Election Commission.

McMahon, who was a Trump delegate to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, made her first contribution to Rebuilding America Now in August. Her most recent contribution was on Sept. 22 – a week before the first presidential debate and before Trump became embroiled in controversy for lewd comments he made about women that were captured on a hot mic and faced accusations from more than 10 women that he had made unwanted sexual advances toward them.

McMahon did not return requests for comment Monday.

In an interview in the spring, McMahon took offense to some of the comments Trump had made about women, calling them "over the top," "deplorable" and "objectionable."

Linda McMahon was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from Connecticut.

McMahon spent more than $100 million of her own money trying to win a Senate seat in 2010 and 2012. As of December 2013, that sum was the most anyone had ever spent of their own funds in trying to win a federal race. The previous leader was Ross Perot, who spent $72 million of his money in the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections.[1]
