Road closures in downtown DC have scanner listeners wondering who's the big cheese

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Visiting Dignitary Road Closures

Saturday, November 4, 2017
The Metropolitan Police Department and the United States Secret Service would like to inform the public of street closures in conjunction with a Visiting Dignitary scheduled to start on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 until Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Closures

The following streets will be closed from approximately 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 to approximately 12:00 pm, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at which time the roadways mentioned below will be closed to traffic:

• 16th Street, Northwest, between I (Eye) Street, Northwest and K Street, Northwest

• Southside service lane in the 1500 block of K Street, Northwest

Local traffic within the closure will have to show proper identification for access to this block during this time period

Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events. These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.

I have worked a lot of gigs in this area. Mostly at the Hay-Adams nearby, but also at the Regis and PJ Clarkes on that block. I've not seen the streets closed on weekends except for demonstrations.

Somebody important in town who doesn't want to see tRump?
