The 15-year-old boy who was
stabbed on an Orange Line train on Friday has died from his injuries, police announced on Saturday. The boy has been identified as Jaquar McNair of Southeast.
Police have also arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the stabbing. She was originally charged with assault with intent to kill. After McNairs death, her charges were upgraded to first degree murder while armed, police announced in a press release. Police have not released the girls name and its not yet known whether shell be charged as an adult or a juvenile.
The stabbing occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday on an Orange Line train pulling into the Capitol South station, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham told reporters at a press conference on Friday. After he was stabbed, McNair got off the train and made it up to the fare gates, where three Metro employees came to his aid and tried to save his life, Newsham said. When first responders arrived they found McNair unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his neck, the report says.
The 15-year-old girl was arrested a few blocks from the station, per the police.
