Are you seeing those t.v. commercials that say that Brighthouse plans to install high speed internet for everyone for free? I tried calling them but the departments that I reached didn't seem to have any information.

(14,255 posts)but then, of course, you have to pay your monthly fee. Most internet providers have specials where they install for free, with,
of course, fine print that says new houses, or pre-wired, or whatever - best to nail that down before they come out. You also might have to sign a contract.
I never had to pay for installation.
click on the details box to see that installation charge is 0.00

(1,979 posts)I have Brighthouse but I'm going with Centurylink and canceling Brighthouse tonight. I hear that BH is being bought by Comcast which will just drive up our bills. I'm not supporting these monopolies anymore and centurylink is doing fine for me right now for less money per month. I'm also getting the Prism cable tv from centurylink installed tomorrow and will test that out... I. Hearing good things about it! I'm in a suburb of orlando.

(2 posts)Comcast is buying Time Warner Cable not Bright House Networks. TWC and Bright House Networks are not the same company.

(88,117 posts)A tech was recently trying to explain it to me. I did not catch it all. I think it will affect BH if TW is bought out.

(15,435 posts)After my husband's parents passed away my husband said we were going to keep the place. His brother lives in the same town but says he doesn't want it. We live about 2 hours away further south, but our side of the family has taken over total care of the place because it's situated on a lake. My husband loves to fish and my daughter & son and their children love spending holidays there. Soooooo, even though it does stretch our finances we simply switched all the bills into our name. AND Brighthouse was the cable company in use so we never switched. The bill seems to go up every month and just last week I decided we needed to switch. Now, having heard what you said about Comcast my mind is made up. We've had DISH for about 14 years and negotiate with them ALL THE TIME. My husband wants his sports channels and so we've always had their complete package. I recently asked them what kind of "down time" there would be because I was going to get a "bundle" with Verizon. After being switched to 3 different people they actually lowered my monthly cost for EVERYTHING to $59.99 a month. Only for a year, but I still can drop them after a year. The Verizon bundle would cost me more.
BUT, with Brighthouse I've found very little co-operation and just don't like them. My husband goes up there about every 5 to 6 weeks, so next time I'll go with him. He can make repairs, but he really loves fishing which I don't. But he still wants all his channels so it costs about $110.00 a month up there.
Anyway, I know too many people who can't stand Comcast not only because of the monopoly factor, the service sucks. Hearing they're negotiating with with BH is all I need to hear.
Thanks for the info.
