Autopsy: Prominent attorney Fred Leonhardt died of huffing
Fred Leonhardt, a prominent Orlando attorney, died in October of ethyl chloride intoxication, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday by the Medical Examiners office.
Ethyl chloride is a chemical developed for industrial and medical uses, which is known now as a frequent huffing agent, or inhalant. The autopsy report indicated that Leonhardt was known to be using ethyl chloride as an inhalant just prior to his death and had a history of huffing.
The autopsy report said the death on Oct. 10 is considered accidental.
Leonhardt was widely considered to be a mover and shaker in the Orlando business community. He was a lobbyist, Republican fund-raiser and shareholder with GrayRobinson. He was well-known for organizing large business luncheons at the firm featuring speakers such as the directors of Enterprise Florida and Visit Orlando.
