Woman arrested in connection with stealing $350K from dead man
A Tallahassee woman was arrested Thursday in connection with stealing approximately $350,000 from a dead man.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Diane Guerry, 48, who it says used the credit and debit cards and bank account of a man who died in June 2015.
Investigators were alerted to potential fraudulent activity by the victim’s bank on Dec. 7. The victim was found dead in his home on June 25, 2015. The medical examiner determined he died from coronary artery disease.
Since the time of his death, the victim’s credit card and debit card were used at various locations in Tallahassee, including ATMs, according to the arrest affidavit. Investigators used CCTV footage from the ATMs at the time the victim’s credit card was used. The footage showed a woman who matched Guerry’s description, investigators said.
