Related: About this forumI received a text from Democratic party of FL and they said we need people to run
There are still unopposed Republicans on the ticket. I think you can register until August.
Please check your area and see if there are any races that you can run in. We can't let Republicans keep any seats.

(36,457 posts)I really want to know. Did someone drop the ball? The local dem party? The national dem party? Both? There should never be a republican running without a challenger.

(22,474 posts)I hope others do too. I think you have until August to register to run in the next election.
Edit: Will someone who knows specify which areas are uncontested. I live in Lee county and was asked to go to a meeting in Broward County today. I told them I couldn't make it and they said they would send me information because there are openings in Lee County.
This is so fucked up!

(42,300 posts)Mine, for instance (Citrus). The good news is that, for the first time in a few election cycles, many Democrats are running against incumbent Rs. We haven't filled all the slots but we are working on it.

(31,261 posts)The Bible Belt is strong around here. There are more Independents and Democrats than republicans in my county, but I am afraid a lot of the Indie vote Dem.
I don't know whether Webster has a Dem challenger, I will check. Running against him in this Jesus freaky region is hard, we have to get a conservative Dem that can eat into Webster's base, unfortunately the best known politicians are all republicans. Update: Webster does not yet have a Dem challenger, the two republican US Reps near him do.

She has spoken to our Women's Club several times and is really getting out and about and talking to people all over the district. Last week, she went all around downtown Inverness, meeting the small business owners and listening to them.

(31,261 posts)I have bookmarked her website. Thanks for the info, the stuff that I had was outdated.
At the same time, she is happy to talk to anyone - even Republicans - and more importantly, listen. If you get the chance, go hear her talk. She's down to earth, practical and an all-around nice person.

(31,261 posts)on SOME weekends after August. She is in my district. I have family here, but none of them canvass. One of my brothers is a minister, associate pastor at one church and he does services at a lot of others, and he is progressive. I will let him know about her and get her name out that way.

(7,604 posts)The deadline for qualifying in judicial races is already past. The deadline for qualifying by petition for any office is also past. Qualifying fees for state house races are about $1800. In my county, a commission race fee is about $3600.
