Tallahassee Police: Payroll manager made $200K in fraudulent charges

A former payroll manager for a Tallahassee land survey and civil engineering firm is being accused of embezzling more than $200,000 using company credit cards, which investigators say she used to pay bills, make online purchases and to play online games.

Tamara R. Gray, 46, faces charges of grand theft, fraudulent use of credit cards and six counts of criminal use of personal information.

Gray worked at Nobel Consulting Group for more than 15 years. In November it was reported to the Tallahassee Police Department that over the past year Gray had changed the company’s credit cards to a paperless system and that she had begun using them to pay personal expenses.

Bank records showed purchases to ADT security, Amazon, Comcast, Nutrisystem, PayPal, Progressive insurance, Talquin Electric, Verizon and Western Union accounts. TPD investigators also noticed charges between 99 cents and $99 related to the online multiplayer video game “Clash of Kings.”
