Florida Republican governor candidate DeSantis releases tax returns
TALLAHASSEE Ron DeSantis, the Republican candidate for Florida governor who won the nomination with the strong backing of President Donald Trump, has released his most recent tax returns.
While Trump refused to release his returns ahead of his 2016 election, DeSantis posted them on his campaign website Sunday right before his nationally televised debate with Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum.
The former U.S. congressman released joint tax returns for both 2016 and 2017. They show that he and his wife Casey earned nearly $237,000 in 2016 and more than $238,000 in 2017.
Gillum released his 2015 and 2016 returns Friday. Gillum, however, did not release his 2017 return. His campaign said he had filed for an extension until October, but that deadline was extended until next year due to Hurricane Michael.
