GOP Rep. Kinzinger wages a lonely fight against Trump’s falsehoods and right-wing disinformation

Rep. Adam Kinzinger arrived in Washington a decade ago as a star of the tea party revolution, a young Air Force pilot who campaigned as an outsider ready to shake up the Republican Party. Now he is an outsider once more — one of only a handful of GOP lawmakers willing to openly criticize President Trump and his grip on the party, even in the final weeks of his presidency.

Since Election Day, Kinzinger (Ill.) has been nearly alone among House Republicans in not only recognizing Democrat Joe Biden as president-elect and rejecting Trump’s baseless claims of mass voter fraud but in using his Twitter account to push back on the most domineering GOP leader in generations.

When Trump on Wednesday posted a 46-minute video rife with falsehoods and conspiracy theories to Facebook, Kinzinger delivered the ultimate rebuke to the social media-obsessed president: “Time to delete your account.”

he is a POS. Nothing will change that.

I think he wants to run against Tammy Duckworth in two years.

Kinzinger toed the puke line far too long. Leopards don't change their spots - he's angling for his future and anyone in IL needs to remember this. I about barfed when I saw him on the news tonight. Too little too late and I ain't buying "at least he said something".

I don't like his politics, but he's been very critical of the orangutan for over 2 years now.
I agree he's angling for future leadership with a show of political courage & providing evidence he's not on the crazy train.
But, in fairness, this criticism is nothing new.
Is he an opportunist? Yes. Is he angling for something bigger? Yes. Has he been toeing the line until now? No!

Zebras don't change their stripes, leopards don't change their spots. Cornered politicians with higher aspirations do and this is what Spinzinger is doing. He won the election in my district though I will never call him my rep.

He's a libertarian republican.
I didn't vote for him, nor his predecessor. And, I knew Weller personally?
Thanks, but I don't need the warning.

Very few who call themselves libertarians actually are. He as well as many others happily went along for the ride for far, far too long. I liken he and the others to bandwagon sports fans.
