Bill to allow guns on church school property advances

Currently, Hoosiers can legally carry guns on church property, so long as that property doesn't also house a school. The Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee took a step toward changing that Wednesday, moving forward a bill that would allow guns on all church property — school or not.

"This allows a house of worship to be able to protect their congregation on their property," said the bill's sponsor, Indianapolis Republican Jack Sandlin. "It does not put guns in the hands of teachers. It does not prohibit houses of worship from establishing policies to prohibit the bringing of firearms onto their property."

The bill passed along party lines, with five Republicans sending Senate Bill 33 to the floor and two Democrats voting against it.

Democrats weren't the only opposition in the room.

Hmmm. Can't think of a single bad thing that might happen.

Honestly, a law prohibiting people from doing something they can have legally on property won’t stop anyone from doing it look at the Texas Church shooting or even the one in Colorado. If someone wants to do it their gonna do it. I mean we’re in the middle of an opioid crisis and I’m fairly certain heroine is illegal. I don’t think that it will ever be reasonable for confiscation of firearms to happen in the United States if we have don’t have border security. (See how the war on drugs and prohibition worked) Let’s be intellectually honest about this. If thousands of people and tons of drugs can freely cross the border then firearms can too.

Heck, it’s legal for someone with a license to carry in California to carry in a church. So this isn’t too crazy of a proposition.

We need to have universal background checks on owners. Close the gun show “loophole” We need to ensure the firearms are out of the mentally ill, and criminals hands. We need to make sure that those black rifles are out of the hands of people who will cause harm with them.

We all know the worshipers of the orange man have a screw loose so they can lose their rights first I suppose.
