Anyone here with insight into Donnelly's race? (Original Post) silvershadow Sep 2012 OP
Last I heard he was in a virtual dead heat with Mourdock, if that's what you're asking. n/t AngryOldDem Sep 2012 #1
I hope so...I am thinking Donnelly can win that race. Indiana won't go blue for Obama this time, silvershadow Sep 2012 #2

Donnelly can win and is clearly the better representative for the views of Hoosiers, but it's going to be tough with all the money Mourdock will have. I watch very little TV and the only ad I have seen for this race was an anti-Donnelly pitch featuring teen girls ripping his record ("he voted for Obama's failed stimulus&quot . All the polls show them within about 2 points of one another, in surveys with larger margins of error.

She's claiming that Dick will work both sides of the aisle and compromise. And yeah, the ad with the teenyboppers showing great concern for the deficit is another classic. (I wonder if they know what they're saying?)

Given that I really don't expect to see a lot of either Obama or Romney here this fall, I think the race will stay too close to call. I'd be interested to know where Mourdock's money is coming from -- if it's like Mikey, probably most is from out of state. I don't know if Donnelly can effectively overcome that.

(Another observation: All TV ads for all races this year have just been ridiculous. I'm done with the folksy crap, especially John Gregg's.)

EDIT: Messed up Skillman's name, sorry 'bout that, Becky!

Matthew Tully called them out on that one in the Indy Star. There was a letter this past Sunday complaining that somehow Tully is too far left to "understand" the nuances of Mourdock's mind. Yeah, right.

Sen Lugar just went public saying he would *not* campaign on Murdoch's behalf. Doesn't change the base. Might have an effect if the middle and left is motivated to vote.
