Iowa
Related: About this forumThere, but for one vote in the Iowa senate, goes Iowa like Indiana
Iowans have been saved much - not all - of the idiocy that passes for politics these days, especially at the state level.
Since the senate is divided 26-24 in favor of Dems and they have remained fairly cohesive, many of the kinds of bills that are floating in other states are being killed in Iowa. If we were to lose one seat and the senate was 25-25 then Kim Reynolds would be casting quite a few tie-breaking votes.
Branstad would love to feather his resume with a few right wing crazy bills. Lord knows he goes about busting unions and handing out our money to corporations without much interference. Just imagine if he had a compliant legislature.
One vote in the senate and Iowa would be another Indiana or Wisconsin or Kansas. We are far from being the caring, nurturing state I grew up in. The loss of one seat in the senate and we could be a wreck just like so many others.

We need to win back some seats and we certainly can't afford to lose any seats.
