There was one in the New Madrid fault by Cairo, Ill. on a Saturday morning about 30 years ago that really shook us. Have felt 2 other minor ones besides that.
Thank goodness they are rare.

My fingers were on the mouse and felt funny for a short time. I was afraid I was coming down with some debilitating problem, but then it went away. SE Iowa.

Didn't notice it up here near Dubuque.

I was awake at the time too.

My sister who lives in Missouri said they didn't notice as they slept through it. No word if the cats had detected the quake.

And these were people local to the Quad Cities.

They asked me about my sister in St. Louis and I told them she slept through the quake. I'm still wondering if Marvel was even more amped up than usual.
