Finkenauer considering running for the House in 2018

Rep. Abby Finkenauer, a Democrat, said she is “seriously listening” to constituents and eastern Iowa residents hoping to see Republican U.S. Rep. Rod Blum unseated in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.

“I’ve been approached by constituents, people in the district who are really disappointed that Rod Blum is still currently our congressman,” she said. “They’re not happy with what they’re seeing in Washington, D.C., and the state of Iowa.”

A spokesman for Blum didn’t immediately return phone and email messages seeking comment.

Finkenauer, 28, is in her second term as representative for Iowa House District 99. She earned 61 percent of the vote to win the seat in 2014 and ran unopposed in 2016.
