Sam Brownback lied to Kansans about new school funding cuts By YAEL T. ABOUHALKAH 02/06/2015 8:07 AM Put it simply and factually: On Thursday, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback lied to kids and educators throughout the state when he announced $44.5 million in cutbacks for higher education and K-12 schools. ~snip~ But here are the facts about what really caused the education cuts (Hint: its the excessive income tax cuts that Brownback and the Legislature approved in 2012), all culled from Kansas Department of Revenue figures. ▪ Yes, sales tax revenue is down $13 million for the first seven months of the current fiscal year, through January. ▪ However, personal income tax revenues some of the taxes that Brownback and his allies slashed in 2012 already are $23 million lower than expected in predictions made just a week after the governor won re-election in November. Add in the fact that corporate taxes are down $19 million, and those Kansas income tax receipts are $42 million lower than predicted through January or more than three times the reduction in sales tax collections. ~snip~ In summary, the continued fall in income taxes because of actions taken by Brownback and the GOP controlled Legislature is causing the school funding cutbacks.

1. I love the title of this OP "Fill in the blank republican lied"
![]() Oh god, they ALL lie about EVERYTHING Sam is unusually despicable, the Koch Bros (who will spend one billion to defeat Hillary or whoever the Dem candidate is and not one penny to elect the Dem) own Sam and are openly trying to destroy all human life other than those who they deem worthy... DOnt believe me? Every action the Koch bros take like Keystone and all their anti education activities and so on are designed to help a few thousand billionaires and harm everyone else so everyone else has no power. You think they are great because they donate to medical institutions? Bullshit, they do that so if they get sick or one of their billionaire friends get sick they will have the best medicine in the world at their fingertips. They dont just NOT care about you, my friend, they HATE you. |

3. The big golden Christian Cross hanging conspicuously from around the adoring God-fearing teachers' neck is interesting
These folks are only shades of crazy away from Saudi Arabia's religion dominated educational system and religion permeated political system that operates via a fear enforced, well understood enduringly comfortable stand off between religious zealotry and political power lust.

4. Brownback is associated with the Christian Reconstructionist movement. So says Jeff Sharlet, author
of The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power

5. The thing is, it is NOT a secret, but American media still pretends it is. Dangerous pretend.
But snowstorms in winter get blanket coverage? It is not a conspiracy but it is not a coincidence.
