Leaders devastated by Passport Health's plan to suspend Louisville HQ work
When Passport Health Plan broke ground on its new $82 million headquarters in west Louisville in 2018, Rev. Charles Elliott, the 58-year pastor of King Solomon Baptist Church, led the group in prayer to celebrate.
Now Elliott plans to lead a delegation to Frankfort next week to pray that the project at 18th and Broadway can be saved.
Passport announced Friday it is suspending construction amid a dispute with the state over rate cuts to its Medicaid business the nonprofit said could leave it insolvent.
"It's going to be a major hurt to west Louisville," Elliott said. "We have made a lot of progress, but we still have a long way to go."
