Some state employees could get pay raise

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) -- Gov. Matt Bevin has announced a potential pay raise for state employees who are currently making less than the midpoint of the salary range in their jobs.

The Wednesday announcement provides state agencies with the flexibility to increase the salary of employees who are currently below the midpoint wage, if that agency has the necessary budget resources, to improve competitiveness in workforce recruitment and retention efforts.

For example, the pay for an Administrative Branch Manager ranges from $42,646 to $68,240 per year. If someone in that position is making less than $55,443, which is the midpoint, they can be raised to that amount.

“Our state employees play a vital role in making Kentucky an exceptional place to live, and we are pleased to take this meaningful step on their behalf,” said Bevin. “It has been more than ten years since the Commonwealth adjusted its salary schedule, and this move will empower agencies to better retain their dedicated public servants and to attract new talent to their ranks.”
