'White Lives Matter' slammed by 'Whitey' shirt creator

George Lamplugh holds up a photo displayed on a cellphone screen of a T-shirt, reading simply "Kill Whitey," with a silhouette of a marlin.

"We had these last year, and no one complained," said Lamplugh, designer of the "White Lives Matter" T-shirts at the White Marlin Marina in Ocean City.

The "White Lives Matter" shirts were intended to promote white marlin conservation. But people like Dan Hassan, of Pakistani lineage, felt the term, based on the Black Lives Matter movement that sprouted in the wake of police shootings, crossed a line.

All the discourse has happened right before Ocean City's White Marlin Open, an unlikely place for a conversation about racial relations.
