Calls for Baltimore County Public Schools audit grow after Dance indictment
Elected leaders are calling for an outside audit of Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) after former superintendent S. Dallas Dance was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of perjury.
The charges, announced by Maryland State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt last Tuesday, concern Financial Disclosure Statements submitted by Dance in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Davitt alleges that Dance did not report $147,000 in outside income, earned from consulting work on behalf of his own and other companies.
Parents of Baltimore County Public students should be able to trust that their Superintendent of Schools is carrying out his duties, honestly, with transparency and in the best interests of the students and the schools, Davitt stated. Any violation of that trust is intolerable.
