Gov. Hogan to hold coronavirus news conference at 4 p.m. Monday.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has scheduled a news conference at 4 p.m. Monday to provide an update the COVID-19 surge. Watch on WBAL-TV 11, WBALTV.com/nowcast, the WBAL-TV app, and at Facebook.com/wbaltv11.

The governor's news conference comes two days after the state recorded its second-highest single-day increase in new coronavirus cases.

Sunday was the 19th consecutive day of at or more than 1,000 new cases reported in a day, the longest streak since the pandemic began. The state has recorded more than 2,000 new coronavirus cases on Nov. 14 and then every day since Nov. 17. The largest one-day increase to date was 2,910 on Nov. 19.

The governor said Saturday in a statement that the state reported a new daily high of 51,510 COVID-19 tests conducted. On Friday, the governor announced more than 4 million coronavirus tests have been conducted in Maryland.
