1. Oh, Ellen, I wish I could help....

All I can do is kick for more input!

Good luck, isn't if interesting that as we get older we find more reasons to SEE things, like whales, and stoplights!

2. Thanks, SKP.

YES, whales and stoplights! And road signs! And I want my sense of balance to be improved, if not restored, so trying this before anything drastic.

3. I hope you find the best provider of care, am encouraged by the advances in techniques.

You deserve the best, I'm confident it will find you.

4. Docs all know each other, so ask your GP

Your GP will have heard any scuttlebutt about bad docs.

The surgeon for my last one was borderline rude before the op. I knew she came highly recommended so I just had it done, happy that I'd only have to see her twice more. After the op, she was all sunshine and smiles---she'd been afraid it wouldn't work on somebody with my crappy corneas and colorful medical history.

Moral of the story: pay attention to recommendations and not bedside manner.

5. I thought so too,

my doc's 'group' even has a 'referring' person, but for some reason, they could come up with nothing, maybe because I want it done miles away from my gp, where I reside.

And thanks for the tip. I do plan to discuss things with those recommended, including those covered by my BC/BS, so do hope I don't encounter rudeness.

8. Yes, please do.

I have 2 names, both accept my insurance, and one was recommended by as friend of a friend. I'd like to hear about yours due to your experience and the nurses' recommendation.

Thanks

9. If you're still looking,

i really like my opthamologist, Charles Wilkinson. He's head of the Opthamology Dept at GBMC in Towson.

Are you doing OK?

10. HI, shireen!

HAPPY to hear from you!

I'm doing fine, still looking, or maybe I should say avoiding looking, but I appreciate this information. At the moment there are 4 on my list, 2 of whom I know accept my insurance, so I guess I should meet with some of them and decide which I prefer.

THANKS!
