11 highlights of $56.5B Michigan budget headed to Snyder's desk

LANSING — The Michigan Senate on Thursday gave final approval to a $56.5-billion state budget, sending it to Republican Gov. Rick Snyder for his signature.

The budget package for 2018 includes $39.9 billion to cover most state government operations and $16.6 billion for education spending, covered in a separate piece of legislation.
