Mackinac Bridge closed, ice falling from cables

ST. IGNACE - The Mackinac Bridge has closed to all traffic because ice is falling from the bridge's cables and towers to the travel lanes below.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority closed the bridge about 12:45 p.m. today.

To find out the current bridge conditions, check the authority's website.

When weather warms and ice on the five-mile structure begins to loosen and fall, large sheets or shards can drop onto the bridge decking below.
