KKK material found in officer's home 'shocking, not surprising,' says NAACP president
MUSKEGON, MI Muskegon Vice Mayor Eric Hood said was disturbed, but not shocked, when he heard that a Muskegon police officer was placed on leave while the city investigates an allegation that his home contains racist memorabilia.
Muskegon Police Officer Charles Anderson on Thursday, Aug. 8, was placed on an indefinite paid administrative leave after an African American Muskegon man reported seeing several pieces of racist memorabilia at his home during a real estate tour.
An inquiry into the home visit and whether the officer violated department policy by displaying the racist artifacts is underway, according to police.
Meanwhile, the African American man, Rob Mathis, told MLive/Muskegon Chronicle that he and his wife were mortified by what they saw. Mathis also said he felt like the materials were left out intentionally as a warning to not purchase the home.
