Controversial Troy Mayor Janice Daniels — fighting for political survival in a recall election — seemed headed toward losing in unofficial returns Tuesday evening.
With more than 24,000 votes counted, the recall side led 51.9%-48.1% at 9:30 p.m.
Supporters of the recall said they felt sure they had won the effort.
“It looks very much like we’ve won. We’re getting reports that we’ve won 14 of the city’s 17 precincts so far,” said John Kulesz, 42, a lifelong resident of Troy who co-organized the recall campaign. ................(more)
