Before You File Your Income Tax Form: 6 Things To Know About Michigan's Changes

LANSING, MI — Many Michigan taxpayers will pay more when they file state taxes this year since many of Gov. Rick Snyder’s reforms kicked in for the 2012 tax year.

Snyder in 2011 signed a massive tax overhaul package that included some $1.4 billion in additional income taxes along with nearly $1.7 billion in business tax cuts.

One of the biggest adjustments will reduce or eliminate the Homestead Property Tax Credit for some homeowners and renters.

The state treasury sent out informational postcards to about a half million taxpayers who are most likely to be affected by the new rules, Stanton said.

Seniors age 65 and older, taxpayers with household resources of more than $50,000 and homeowners whose property has a taxable value of more than $135,000 are most likely to be impacted.

Maybe after the re-gerrymandering after the 2020 census ..

Like having Bush in office again. If these nitwits in Lansing could ever start a war, they'd do it. We seem to unload one corrupt crowd only to be visited by another.

and I had to pay a whole lot more because of the weasel Snyder. I'm guessing that most people haven't done theirs yet, but when they do they are in for a surprise. Wonder how the teabaggers will feel when they realize that Snyder is a tax and spend Repuke?

I also got a form letter yesterday from our state senator where he took the time to tell us why he voted for the RTW bill. He got a piece of my mind in my response to him.

Candyass Miller also sent out a form letter about 4 weeks ago saying she thought the solution to gun violence was more mental health help, so I gave her a piece of my mind too. Seems I have too much time on my hands
