MI: Albion College Students Protest AGl Schuette Over His Defense Of The State's Gay Marriage Ban
Apr. 4, 2014 4:21 PM |
Students at Albion College gathered outside the college's administration building today to protest one of the college trustees, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, over his defense of the state's gay marriage ban.
The Albion College Pleiad, the student newspaper, reported the protest on its Facebook page Friday afternoon. The Pleiad said in an editorial last month Schuette has been a college trustee for 15 years.
Schuette appealed a lower court's decision last month to overturn the state's voter-approved ban. During a campaign stop in Battle Creek last month, Schuette said he did so because he's required to defend the state's constitution. He said he voted for the ban, but would defend same-sex marriage "just as vigorously" if it were allowed in Michigan.
