After all, people lose heat, or have to venture out in this cold to make a living. Or even work outdoor..
So when the TV yesterday evening started pixilating, and no Internet connection, we just retired early.
This morning, nothing, but as the temp. "warmed" from -23 to -18, service returned. Sluggish, but there. Got Skype, got email.
Will probably have a repeat this evening and tomorrow morning. Had the same thing last year. Comcast technician said that, even though their engineers say that the cable should withstand low temp. it does not.
And, of course, when I do talk to someone - I want at least credit for these days - and someone wants to "look" at my account, I stop them - don't even try to sell me on Comcast phone. Don't you realize that I DON'T HAVE CABLE?
Sigh. We are as cold as Mars, colder than Siberia. Try to explain to outsiders why we rejoice at the prospect of.... 30 above..

(47,263 posts)I am going to. They told me to call again once we are beyond this interruption. Will see.
question everything
(47,263 posts)Did not get to call until this morning. The rep first said that there were no reports of outage on Jan. 6 and 7. Of course not, I told him. But that very cold temp. blocks transmission, had a technician last year who agreed.
So... to get me off his back he offered not to charge for the modem - $8.00. I took it.
