I didn't know...or at least, don't remember hearing ... about the GI protests...and the personal objections of many soldiers to the war that they were fighting.

I was about 20 days short of 16 years old when the Presidio 27 carried out their sit-down protest. Maybe the Post Register in Idaho Falls, Idaho, didn't consider the event worthy of coverage.

But I knew about Mai Lai. I had heard Alice's Restaurant. Kent State hadn't happened yet, but it would.

Two years later, after moving with my parents to Chicago, I filed with my draft board, as a conscientious objector.

The film gives me a new, provocative perspective on the persons - the human soldiers - as they struggled to cope with an immoral war their country had chosen to pursue.

Please provide a summary of the ... "Discussion Afterwards" .. how do the Vets for Peace view the efforts of their earlier sisters and brothers in opposition to the Vietnam war?

(I never liked getting off of the Blue (Hiawatha) Line at the Cedar-Riverside station, and then walking down 16th and then 6th to get to Cedar Ave., especially at night, so am glad to see this great alternative)
