Saudi Arabia has added Norm Coleman to its lobbying payroll, the Nation reports

http://www.minnpost.com/political-agenda/2014/09/saudi-arabia-has-added-norm-coleman-its-lobbying-payroll-nation-reports?utm_content=buffer3bee6&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Surprise, surprise...

Former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, who's been a lobbyist and a Super PAC head since losing to Al Franken in 2008, is now on Saudi Arabia's payroll as a lobbyist.

The Nation, in an article noticed by Blois Olson and his Morning Take, says that Coleman is a lobbyist with the Hogan Lovells law firm and also heads two major campaign finance groups that are directing millions of dollars to Republican congressional candidates around the country.

Now, says the story: "Disclosures show that the latest addition to the Saudi government payroll includes former US Senator Norm Coleman, a Republican from Minnesota who leads one of the largest Super PACs in the country."

And: "What's notable about the hiring of Coleman is that he appears to be the first leader of a significant Super PAC to simultaneously lobby for a foreign government."

Got to shake his hand 6 years ago. If I had to shake Coleman's hand instead, I'd still be washing.

I remember when Coleman got elected back in 2002 (perish the memory) and Garrison Keillor just told it straight, describing exactly who this slimeball is and what he is about.

I wish I could post that God-Awful cheesy grin of this literal fuckwad (Norm Coleman) but am not able to for some reason... but anyway if you Google images:Norm Coleman, you will see plenty of examples that will induce a vomit-fest of the highest magnitude.

I am too by the way I was just reflecting on the irony of that the Senate race in Minnesota from 2008 both candidates were Jewish New Yorkers

Boschwitz was born in Germany but his family got out in time and he grew up near New York City (and it was really Boschwitz' "good Jew/bad Jew" letter that put Wellstone over the top in 1990)

Wellstone was born in D.C. - the only one of the four who didn't live in New York.

This being the land of Lutherans and Catholics it is kind of funny.

that, the day after he was elected in 2002, he stopped in the Cathedral of St. Paul to say a prayer of thanks... Which prompted a Jewish friend of mine to remark that, as a Jew, nothing makes her want to pray more than going into a Catholic church and seeing the dead Jew hanging over the altar. (Having been raised Catholic, I'd never thought of it like that before - I haven't been able to look at an altar since then without thinking of her comment.)

Actually, I think Christianity ruined itself many many centuries ago, when it became endless lip service to Jesus, but nothing about what he preached --

http://jesusisaliberal.com/

-- oh, these are nice sounding sentiments, sweet, but if we raise job-killing taxes to give handouts to the poor, we'll kill jobs and at the same time kill the incentives for the poor to get a job and pull themselves up by their bootstraps and yada.

Hmm, totally unrelated except that it's Christianity and Jesus, I just ran across this while hunting down Bible verses -- sounds like he had DU in mind, 2 millenia ahead of his time:

...whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. - Matthew 5:22

I can't wait to use that on my next DU jury service!

Is it OK to call someone a fool? http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/fool.html
