Luminaries in Minnesota trails

We just came back from a two miles walk in the Luce Line in Plymouth, lit by luminaries. Part of it was along the trail, then we entered the wood and circled a point on a lake. Ended with marshmallows and hot chocolate. Was a perfect night, no wind and pleasant - for January - temp.

Seems that there are 30 candlelight events planned for this winter at Minnesota state parks and trails.

The Geteway trail will be on Valentine Day.

Looking at the calendar, I see that some of the events include skis and snowshoes.

which poses a bit of a problem: they move at their own leisurely pace, spreading the width of the trail and one has to repeat "excuse me," or "on your left...."

But it was certainly a family event.

We arrived there shortly after 6:00 and had to park a few blocks away. We were done by 7:15 and by then we did not see new arrivals. Park employees then tallied their number - 460 (give or take).

As we were walking on the road toward the car, a woman in her car stopped: why are there all these vehicles, she demanded to know, quite unhappy. We explained to her and only when I added that it would end by 8 she was pacified. A bit later another neighbor stopped and asked what was going on, but was quite excited about the event..
