Signatures submitted in effort to recall Nevada senator

A group attempting to oust Democratic state Sen. Nicole Cannizzaro submitted enough signatures Tuesday to advance the recall process.

The recall committee turned in 16,875 signatures to the Clark County Registrar of Voters on Tuesday afternoon, two hours before the deadline to submit at least 14,975 signatures. Petitioners submitted the signatures for two other recalls the day before their respective deadlines.

Cannizzaro, who was elected in 2016, said in a statement that she is “not intimidated one bit by the shady special interests and desperate politicians behind this manipulation of the recall process.”

“This plan to subvert the will of voters in my district has been an aggressive and dishonest smear campaign from day one, and I will be watching the signature verification process closely this week,” Cannizzaro said. “I delivered for my constituents this past session when I passed laws to crack down on elder abuse, protect victims of domestic violence and put Nevadans back to work — and I will defend my record of results to anyone.”

1. Republicans targeting 3 female legislators in recalls.

The Republican war on women in the public space continues.

One of the three female state senators is a former Republican who is now nonpartisan and caucuses with Democrats: Patricia Farley.

Another is: Joyce Woodhouse-D

The third is Nicole Cannizzarro-D

Election 2016 gave a state senate majority to Democrats and the Republican Party wants to subvert the will of the voters and regain control of the state senate.

These women rankle because they want to legislate for the benefit of the people. Therefore they are accused of such things as not being "pro-business." (translation: tend to vote for fair wages).

Another charge is being pro-felon (translation:votes for such things as criminal justice reform).

Woodhouse is a big supporter of public education and is backed by teachers union. She is being accused of the "pro-sanctuary city" stance -the latest phony charge dreamed up by Republican schemers.

I am not in Arizona so if I have facts wrong please correct me.

These recall schemes, I think, are likely to be promoted in other states also.

failed to gather enough signatures. Farley is considered to be an independent if my memory from about an hour ago is correct.
