6 students to share $660K settlement reached in teacher upskirting case
DEPTFORD TWP. -- Six students who filed federal lawsuits after their teacher was accused of shooting upskirt videos of them have reached a $660,000 settlement with the school that employed him, according to attorneys for two law firms who represented the students.
Adam Mayr, who worked as a teacher at Gloucester County Institute of Technology, was recently sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading guilty to one count of invasion of privacy and official misconduct. He was originally accused of recording 24 students without their knowledge over a two-year period using a small video recorder.
Students alerted school staff to Mayr's activities.
The students sued Mayr, GCIT, the county special services school district board of education and the county vocational school district.
