COVID in New Mexico

The evening news here said tonight that we will not reach our peak with the latest covid infections for two more weeks.

Over 5,000 infections today.

I live in an 11-story senior citizen apartment building with 150 apartments and possibly over 200 residents.

I am one of the few who wear a mask, an n95 mask.
People look at me as if I am weird for wearing a mask,
as they go maskless.

I keep waiting for an outbreak to occur in my building. Even the office staff and maintenance crew do not wear masks.

It is probably inevitable that someone in those apartments is going to get sick. Shame on them! When that happens, they will start wearing the masks, I'll bet. They probably think that because they are fully vaccinated and boosted, that they won't get very sick. Good luck with that! While most cases of the fully vaccinated are mild, those over 65 with ANY other health condition are still at risk. I will bet that some of these folks will see grand kids and great grand kids. The schools are petri dishes because too many families have not gotten their kids vaccinated. My 7 year old great niece just tested positive. One of my daughters lives on disability and has a 20 hour a week job as a receptionist at a busy salon. I bought her N95 masks for her protection. Hubby and I are laying low for the next few weeks until the middle of March. Stay safe left-of -center!
