Cuomo announces local grants to fight gun violence

ALBANY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that local law-enforcement agencies in 17 counties will share more than $13.2 million in grants to reduce gun-related violent crimes.

Monroe County received about $1.6 million for four law enforcement agencies, and Westchester County received $1.3 million for five law enforcement agencies.

Broome County received $384,872 for three law enforcement agencies — the Binghamton Police Department, $200,417; the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, $95,865; and Broome County District Attorney’s Office, $88,590. No other Southern Tier and Finger Lakes agencies received awards.
