The Sergeants Benevolent Association has been vocal in its displeasure with Mayor Bill de Blasio and the contract offers the union has received from his administration.
Yesterday, Ed Mullins, the president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, also questioned the city's precedent-setting deal with the city's teachers, and the labor leader who negotiated that contract.
I think Mike Mulgrew is out of his mind for doing a deal like that," Mullins told Capital in an interview. "I really do.
Earlier this month, contract talks between another major police union and City Hall broke down completely, on the same day de Blasio struck a deal with Mulgrew for the first contract of his mayoralty.

(50,949 posts)That's a whole lot of interest foregone on savings, etc. The 4% increase in salary doesn't kick in till 2017, and the arrears aren't paid till 2020. Then again, there are three years in the contract with no raises, so the 4% doesn't really amount to a 4% raise for a year. It's over a number of years.
It basically boils down to a salary that does not keep pace with inflation.
